Menu board planner

I've been having some issues with food inspiration. I've been contemplating a meal plan for a while. I saw this diy on Facebook and fell in love with it.
All you need:
- some fabric that you like and backing or scrapbook paper
- magnets
- glue gun
- clothes pins ( I used bobby pins)
- card stock
- marker
- cue cards

1) glue the fabric to the backing.
2) glue the magnets to the back of the menu.
3) cut out 8 shapes out of the card stock (1 for the menu title and 7 for the days of the week. ) and write.
4) glue the title onto the menu and the weekdays onto the clothes pins
5) glues back of clothespins to menu in order.
6) and lastly, write down your meals on the cue cards and as you find recipes you like you can add them to your menu cards.

OK, so we just moved into our new place in Alberta and now we're expecting our second little one. So more projects will be coming. Household and baby projects!!! I'm so excited!! Here's my list so far and when I get them done they will be up here. OK, my list:
-- receiving blankets
-- menu board
-- welcome mat
--  coasters
-- bench ( out of headboards)
-- onsies
-- mobile.

So that's my to do list and you'll see them as the come. Well thought I should give you an update on the goings on. See you at my next post!!!

Spring Sweets!

I made these cute little chocolate nests the other day and everyone loved them!

To make them you will need:

1 tbsp butter (to grease muffin tin)
1/2 bag(6 oz.) of semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 bag (6 oz.) of butterscotch chips
1 cup of creamy peanut butter
1/2 bag (6 oz.) of chow mein noodles or pretzel sticks (i used pretzels sticks)
36 Cadbury mini eggs


1) grease muffin tin
2) in a large microwave safe bowl, mix the chocolate chips and butterscotch chips and heat in the microwave for 30 sec intervals mix well until all melted
3) then mix in the peanut butter
4) carefully mix in the chow mein noodles or pretzels until completely coated.
5) spoon the mixture into the muffin tin and gently push down the middles to make a nest shape
6) add 3 mini eggs to each nest and chill them in the fridge (about an hour)
7) after they have hardened pop them out and serve!

My recycled notebook

After the move I found sooo much I wanted to make! I wanted to make furniture, clothes, toys, sheets, anything I could! But, of course, I don't have the space or the tools for any of it. So I decided to buy a notebook and record all of my brilliant (and sometimes not so brilliant) ideas and pictures so that when I do have my tools and space I have them right at my finger tips. Then I thought "BUY!? I'm going to make my own!!"

Here's what you need!
- a cereal box (empty)
- scissors
- printing paper
- darning needle
- twine or reeeally thick thread
- a pretty button!

1) Cut out one of the big sides of the cereal box and fold it in half.(picture in , this will be the cover)

2) fold the printing paper inside and cut it to size (about 2 cm from the edge of the cardboard)

3) Once you have the size all figured out sew along the fold of the printing paper to the inside fold of the cereal box.

4) Sew your pretty button on to the front cover, about an inch from the edge. knot but dont cut off you'll need enough thread/ twine left over to wrap around the book twice and around the button to secure it (4-5x).

5) then you can decorate your cover however you want. if paint will be involved I advise painting the cover before you put it all together.

The Big Move

Sorry, I haven't been posting anything lately. I just moved from Ontario to Alberta with the Hubby and the Little One and I just recently got my craft stuff back! Yay! So, hopefully I'll be posting more often.

heart on your sleeve

These are from the same sweater as my infinity scarf and the most time consuming part of making them was sewing the buttons on. They are really warm and I think they're really pretty (proud much?). start by cutting the sleeves off a sweater at the length you want the gloves to be. Figure out  and cut holes where your thumbs would go then decorate!

infinity and beyond (no sew)

This literally took 3 minutes to make and is super warm! I made it out of a sweater that was too small for me cut it just below the armpit area and ta-da! You have a lovely infinity scarf that would cost $20+ at the store.
Advice: It will take a nice folded form once you wear it. So dont sweat it if it looks funny on you after you cut it.
Looking to funk it up a bit? Add buttons! (yes, thats my answer to everything)

Cool Jeans

Just a simple thing can make such a statement! I thought one of daughter's dresses needed a little revamp so i got out my needle and thread and some red felt and made this cute little heart patch!( Had some issues with getting the picture on the post so click the link to see it. Sorry.)

I am sorry for not posting in a while but my hunny shanghaied my computer without telling me! Hooray! But I have a couple of new stuff to show you in the next couple of days. I hope you enjoy! TTFN.

Rags to Ridiculous!

I got the idea for the flowers from craftsnob.com and I just hot glue gunned them on to everything!!
All you do is: Cut out a circle out of some scrap material then cut out a slightly smaller circle out of some coordinated material sew on a button or a bead and glue it on somethin'! And BAM! There you go a beautiful accessory for you in 5 minutes!

'Tis The Season Pt.2

I remember when I was a kid weaving vines to make crowns. Well now I have a grown up reason to! Add some ribbon, bells, fake berries or branches, some pine cones... Whatever and hang it on the wall I gave this one to a really good friend and he put it in the lobby of the apartment building he manages.

'Tis The Season Pt.1

This is a great hostess gift or even a christmas party favor and best of all it only takes seconds to make!!
You can buy the clear bulbs pretty much anywhere. Take the tops off and add whatever you want to them! I added little pieces of fake branches and flowers, beads, sequins, and itty bitty jingle bells. But you can add whatever you want. Snap the top back on and tie a ribbon on to hang it and voila!

A Few of My Favorite Things

This sweet necklace I originally got at ardenes in the ever famous(and useful) surprise bags. This whole thing started when one side of the butterfly came off its chain. This was around the time I was making the  semi-precious pendants. And I started to add things I thought were pretty. They don't match but I like it! And in the end I saved my pretty necklace!

Another Cinderella Project

Now I did this a couple years ago but we love it so much I figured I'd throw it on the new blog! What the heck! right? This started off as a picture frame that was too small for any of the pictures I had. And rather than spend money getting a smaller picture I got creative instead. I know, oh god no!! Quick Bob get the kids in the minivan!!
Now the key to this project is layers. On one side of the glass paint the stuff in the foreground (you have to work backwards), then paint what's behind that, and so on. Now if you are doing flowers like I did remember, blossoms first then stems.

Itty Bitty Corkboard

This little tin box was just not getting out enough! And it is so pretty! Its just a shame... So I played fairy godmother and got some cork board and cut it to fit in the bottom of the tin and glue gunned it to stick and stuck some memos and business cards in it. It now sits on my craft table in all its glory! If you keep the lid it holds the thumb tacks and memos too. And it can be easily moved to the office. Mine can only fit about 3 business cards so the bigger the better!

I Love Button Magnets!!

These little magnets are a great way to funkify your kitchen. They also make great house warming gifts and they are so easy to make!!
All you need is some large magnets (not too heavy though), some magnet strip, and a glue gun.
Cut some of the magnet strip so it will be just big enough to be hidden by the button.
Then glue gun the piece of magnet to the back of the button, or the side you don't want to show. And there you go!! Button magnets for all!! I know ridiculously easy! Why did I even need to have a tutorial? Because its fun!

Semi-precious Pendants

I've been seeing these everywhere. Cool little rock pendants that go with everything! So I took out my rock collection from when I was younger and got some awesome rocks that Marilyn Monroe would be jealous of, got some craft wire and some pliers and voila!! a couple of pretty swanky pendants!

Beading the Winter Blues

A little funk goes a long way! A simple embellishment can funk up a blazer and even pull double duty and tone down one too.
That's what I did. This is my "brighter-than-everything-else-in-my-closet" blazer. And just a bit of beads and I can suddenly wear it in public without blinding people!! Hooray!
